Our team has worked with German based company Multivisual Jamaica Limited where we developed JAVA based desktop applications for international clients. Our tasks included:
- Developing a template driven application used to
create advertisements for the printing press. Application
supported drag and drop features. Users were able to
create an advertisement using an advanced GUI. Finished
ads could then be stored as templates for future use. Application
would generate the advertisement in PDF or GIF/JPEG file
format which would then be FTP'd or emailed to the
printing press depending on file size. Main technologies
used were Java, Swing, Ghost Script and XML.
- Development of a database application that would store the above generated advertisements. Application had two modes, database mode and file system mode. Advertisements could be imported into the database and exported to the file system. End users could query the database using advanced Boolean or keyword techniques in a GUI environment.
- Programming a mail daemon that worked with command line switches sent in an email message. A user anywhere in the world could request an advertisement. The end user would send an email to a specified address using a certain commands within the email message. The mail daemon would then parse the email message, query the database or file system (based on the mode of the database application) and extract the requested advertisement and send it to the end user.

hotel reservation
system
We have developed an online reservation system for retail. This system has both a client and administrative interface that will facilitate a prospective hotel guest making a reservation for a hotel.
- At the client side, a prospective hotel guest anywhere in the world would use the internet to access the hotel's website. Once on the hotel's website the client has various options which includes, making a reservation, viewing the accommodations etc.
- At the administrative side, only authorized hotel employees would view and respond to reservation requests made by a prospective guest. Once a guest arrives, the employee would use this system to check the guest in. During the guest's stay it would be used to add charges to a room based on food and beverage consumption, damages made and other charges incurred by that guest. When a guest is departing it would be used to check that guest out. For walk-in guest, it will be used to determine what rooms are available, the status of the rooms.
